About the Drama Triangle
![]() |
Thoughtful design with clear symbolismEach of the four colored triangles is crafted from beechwood and meticulously finished. The colors—red, yellow, green (and gray)—symbolically represent the roles within the drama triangle: the sword (persecutor), the mask (victim), the shield (rescuer), and the neutral gray triangle , representing an exit from the dynamic. All symbols are printed on one side only, allowing the set to be used either with the symbols visible or solely through the logic of the colors. This versatility ensures the material remains adaptable—from clear representation to free, symbol-based interpretation. |
A psychologically sound model with a clear structureThe Drama Triangle, based on Stephen Karpman's model, illustrates the roles of victim, rescuer, and persecutor in a simple and clear way. By physically arranging the triangles, typical patterns and interactions can be visualized. The central gray triangle represents the neutral observer role—that is, the conscious step out of the drama. In this way, a theoretical model becomes a tangible, practical tool that makes change visible. |

Versatile use in coaching, therapy and trainingThe Drama Triangle can be used in individual coaching, group settings, or psychological work – both on a table and on the floor , perhaps in conjunction with figures or symbols. It also provides a clear structure for workshops, supervision sessions, and team development, helping to clarify roles, reflect on responsibilities, and foster new perspectives. Its simple form and color scheme ensure it remains easily understandable and ready for immediate use. |
Clarity and awareness in the processThe visual representation helps to decipher emotional dynamics and get to the heart of conversations. The Drama Triangle creates space for self-reflection and supports the recognition of patterns, taking responsibility, and consciously adopting different perspectives. This makes it an effective tool for anyone who wants to promote clarity and change in communication, relationships, and collaboration. |
